The situation

A subscription platform's revenue picture lived in five disconnected tools. Every Monday, the FP&A analyst spent a full day copy-pasting numbers into a spreadsheet the exec team finished questioning by Tuesday.

The challenge

Billing, usage, marketing, and finance data all counted revenue differently. The weekly report was wrong by the time it was read, and there was no way to answer 'why is MRR down?' without another day of digging.

The solution

We centralized the five sources into a semantic revenue model in a warehouse, with a single definition of MRR/ARR everyone agreed on. Live dashboards now show revenue, churn, and expansion by segment with drill-downs, plus a nightly anomaly alert that flags unexpected changes before the exec meeting.

The results

  • One full FTE day per week returned to the FP&A team
  • All five sources now reconcile to cents every night
  • Churn anomalies flagged an average of 4 days earlier
  • Board reporting moved from weekly to daily freshness
