The situation

A direct-to-consumer brand sold on Shopify but reconciled orders against its 3PL and accounting systems via overnight CSV drops. Overselling, stockouts, and refund errors were daily occurrences during peak season.

The challenge

Order data traveled through four systems that never agreed in real time. The 3PL shipped what it had; the website sold what it thought it had. Peak-season traffic pushed the mismatch past $200k in annualized losses from chargebacks and expedite fees.

The solution

We built an event-driven sync layer that pushes each order from Shopify to the 3PL the moment it's placed, pulls tracking back automatically, and posts settled orders into accounting nightly. Inventory is reconciled in real time with a safety-stock reorder point that triggers vendor purchase orders.
